Exceptional turn of events: former president Mubarak might end up on trial

Egypt has put another record of Arab resurgence. Former president Husni Mubarak and his sons have been detained ahead of investigation on corruption and abuse of power. This even might not be seen as crucial as president’s demise itself. However put in line these two events – demise and detention – created exclusively important development in transformation of Egyptian society.

I think we should recognize that such and exclusive track of the progress was rooted in former president’s decision to step down and stay in his homeland. Was that a manifestation of his confidence in Egyptian justice and belief in personal innocence? Or was that a guarantee and restriction by a now in power interim military council?

At any rate that has been an exception in usual scenario of overthrown leader move and behaviour, which lead to further maturity test for Egyptian society and revolution. It should be just and independent investigation that would indicate to a serious advancement towards rule of law and independent justice system in biggest and leading Arab country. New culture of societal transformation and political dynamics might come up as another lessons of the Egyptian revolution once suspicions of revengeful motivations were proven false and belief in fair court judgement  were restored.

In his 82 years of age facing such a test which might bring a glory and dignity for all Egyptian people is indeed a belated and valuable service of former president and Egyptian citizen general Husni Mubarak.
